Growing up on the North Shore, Cindy got her entrepreneurial spirit from a big family that has owned and managed a large Chicago restaurant for the past 35 years. Their large family gatherings always revolved around homemade food and, during special occasions, exchanging handcrafted gifts. As she grew up, Cindy came to realize just how special those times were.
Upon facing a career crossroads, Cindy knew it was time to try a new path. Drawing from the inspiration she gleaned from her childhood about the value of handmade items, she decided to pair her love of all things creative with her business experience. Realizing they felt the same way about artisans' creations, she and Tanya decided to draw on shared marketing and retail experience by opening a unique boutique.
Everybody deserves a little something made with singular attention and, at Jade & Renee, everybody can shop for special items. She hopes this boutique will become an integral part of the North Shore in years to come, and a new generation will come to appreciate original work by the creative community.
Although not an artisan herself, Tanya has a deep appreciation for beautiful things. A North Shore transplant by way of Singapore, New York and other locales, she credits her nomadic lifestyle with opening her heart to various artistic sensibilities. Fifteen years in the corporate world also gave her the experience in marketing and wholesale she needed to open her own store – a dream since business school.
The timing worked out earlier this year when her friend and colleague, Cindy, came to her with the concept of Jade & Renee. And... here they are!
Each day, Tanya picks a new precept for the store's chalkboard to keep vibes positive. The most important one is already displayed on the door, though. She loves making Jade & Renee's motto real by connecting the community with artful products she's selected.
